I love Nancy very, very much and we've carved our little slice of Heaven on Earth out here in Graham.  Nancy found our house while I was deployed to Iraq and buying a house while deployed was interesting, to say the least.
Stephanie (4 in October '08) was born 7 days after I got on the plane to Iraq (6 weeks premature) and I didn't get to see her in person until she was over 8 months old.  Nancy sent pictures and I had the occasional web cam but it just wasn't the real thing.  Stephanie is busy with swimming lessons, preschool, gymnastics and keeping us hopping.  She will either keep us young or make us very, very old...fast.  If I could only bottle and sell her energy I wouldn't have to work.
Natalie (15 in March '09) is a wonderful big Sissy.  She is in 9th grade this year with an eye on High School.  She has the gift of music; she plays the clarinet, saxophone and keyboards.  She performs with the Cougar Mountain Junior High School Jazz Band, Concert Band and Wind Ensemble.  She also has a beautiful voice and performs with the school's Concert Choir.  She is interested in forensics so we'll see where this takes her.
Dereck is 23 now and an Infantryman with the Washington National Guard 81st Infantry Brigade.  He will be deploying for his second tour in Iraq later this year.  When he is not being an amazing soldier he is a student at CWU in Ellensburg.  I am extremely proud of him; he truly is a remarkable young man.
My daughter Amy is 29 and I am hoping to get to know this wonderful person much better.  I was, unfortunately for me,(my loss) not a part of her life from age 4 until just the past 1-1/2 years.
Nancy works out of our home as a transcriptionist and cuts hair and sells candles and keeps the home together so I can go out and play Army.  My training schedule has ramped up so she truly is the rock foundation of this castle.  When I have to deploy again-to Afghanistan... I know all will be well since we're seasoned veterans.
I am a Maintenance Officer in my second Stryker Brigade at Fort Lewis.  I am in charge of all maintenance and maintenance-related issues for an Infantry Battalion.  In other words, I am responsible for 76 Strykers, each worth $2M - $3M, depending on the variant, 30 HUMVEEs, 12 5-Ton Cargo Trucks, Trailers, Generators, Weapons, Chemical Equipment, Communications Equipment and I do this with a team of 25, including me.  Oh, and I am responsible for them too.  Yes, I'm busy.  But with this job comes opportunity; I am blessed to have some of America's best Sons and Daughters by my side during this time of war and I have the pleasure of teaching, coaching and mentoring these fine young citizen/soldiers.
My two minutes of soap box: Let us not forget we are a Nation at war; remain vigilant.  Display your patriotism proudly; for all our faults this is still the best Nation in the world.  I hope and pray you all embrace this knowledge in one way or another!!!

Wow have 30 years ever flown by!  Where do I begin?  I will just update for the past 6 years because these have been the happiest of my life.  Duane hunted me down on Classmates.com in 2002 and we have been together ever since!  (He had great timing since I was just divorced and still pining after him for all those years!) He is truly the love of my life and my soul mate.  I am head over heels in love with my husband and I know the feeling is very mutual!!
My daughter Natalie is in 9th grade, an Honors student and very active in Choir & Band ( plays clarinet, alto saxophone and piano) is an amazing artist and is also in youth group at our church-she is a GREAT teenager-most of the time if we can ignore the drama!! LOL  She wants to go into Forensic Medicine and attend U of W.
Our daughter Stephanie is almost 4 and keeps me feeling very young or very old....depends on the day!  I was told I could not have more children after my daughter Melanie died from cancer at 16 months.  (in 10/99) So, at age 44 I proved all the Doctors wrong (thought I was going thru menopause early) and had Stephanie- six weeks premature-a week AFTER Duane had to deploy to iraq for the second time!!  
We bought our house here in Graham while he was still in Iraq in 2005...We LOVE it here-we have just over 1/2 acre on a dead end street with greenbelts in front and behind our property.  Duane has only a 14 minute commute to work with NO TRAFFIC!  I do medical transcription work  and hairstyling part time, as well as candles,take care of the kids, animals and husband full time!  I have my degree, yet am so blessed to be able to make my family #1 and my career not!  I learned the hard way that gone is gone-so I cherish each moment and live each day to the fullest. I Love my husband and children with all my heart-family and our dear friends are what matter most to me.  I am very excited to see everyone!!
